| “TURTLE LEAF” Do you see the turtle? If not, don’t worry. It took me awhile to see it too. The turtle’s head appears at the base of the leaf on the right side of the painting. This photo was taken in Maui, Hawaii during a hike into the high country. I was fascinated with the vibrancy of this brightly colored leaf even as its life was quickly fading. I found the deep reflections and translucent flora in the water to be irresistible--- definitely eye candy for a watercolorist. For me “Turtle Leaf” represents a kind of transformation from one life form to another…an inevitability for all living things. |
