| STORY OF LAKE COMO CAFE This is the final painting in my “Italy Series”. The first painting “Tuscan Wine Barn” was from our 2001 family trip to visit relatives in Civitia. I painted it in 2007, followed by Turin Family Farm in 2008. That was from a photo taken by a student studying abroad through the University of Portland. The final painting “Lake Como Café” was from my trip to Switzerland and Italy June 2009. It was an amazing gift to tour with my girlfriend Christana Boyle (US and Swiss citizen) who not only spoke enough of each language to get us around but was very tolerant of stopping all of the time so that I could get the “next amazing photo ”. You can link to my photography section to see some of the results. We loved the cafes in Lake Como. They were mostly over a “boat garage” with a docking area for guest to then walk up the stairs. Also access from the street was available for those of us wise enough to not bring a car but walked or took the ferry everywhere. It was a magical 10 days but I must admit Lake Como reminded me so much of Northwest USA that I was plenty home sick by the time I returned to Spokane. |
